Toys R Us Closed

It's easy to miss things in the hurly-burly of a workshop in the classroom. Sorting through the poems from a week of Poem for Suffolk workshops (that's 7 schools, 400 children) I came across this poignant and honest poem from a boy in Year 5 at Kedington Primary. Life and childhood can be difficult at times, can't it? I didn't think he gave it a title at first but he did do a drawing of Toys R Us with a big red closed sign. I realise now that was the title... (PS3 by the way is Play Station 3 but I've been told this week that PS4 is where it's at).

TOYS R US CLOSED

Friday after school I go home and play on PS3 but Dad says we’re not allowed on it the other four days. It’s annoying when we’re done hunting for skylanders. Kedington is so much fun, going to the city is as well. I didn’t like it here at first at first I liked London. I never wanted to leave but, no, we did. Once I’m grown-up my life will be better I have to admit. People are greedy on Amazon and Ebay. It’s a good life for everyone but not for me.
